alright, my comp started with symantec protection. i hate it. sometimes when its need to scan even incoming packet means my comp gets 10% of its memory drained when what im doing is basically just going on facebook.

its also pretty stupid and un user friendly, for example, i tell it to stop. let a safe word document from a friend through, it starts screaming and sets the computer on fire.

so i plan on uninstalling it because its... well crap.

i run it side by side with avast, which does everything symantec does, but better, more efficient, less sirens and attacking me.

im looking for a new antivirus software that one of you guys say is pretty good, does the job, isnt a pain in the lower gastrointestinal tract.
i dont trust the optimistic reviews i read somewhere, i want some real human feedback and opinions about their anti virus.

and yes, when i use free anti virus software, i get 2 of them at the same time.
paranoia helps sometimes.

- Ad-Aware anti Spyware.
Great free anti spyware/trojan software.
- F-Prot for Dos (srsly, it's cool =) I use full version though.)
- MalwareBytes Anti-Malware
This one does MIRACLES, I tell you. It doesn't protect you, but it removes malware. The ones that can kill your computer. F-Prot, Kaspersky and Norton (had em all, I am VERY paranoid) failed to kill a virus which disabled most of my applications, removed a few of em per day and made my PC go very, verrryyyy slow. (5% of usual speed or so...).

Malwarebytes killed it, ate it, played with it and then used it to please itself (sexually).

Seriously, use it =)

I run MalwareBytes, Ad-Aware and F-Prot here now. I am going to remove Ad-Aware, F-Prot is razorfast and deals with 99% of the problems. I got the beast for the big kapows ^^

I usually use AVG anti virus software. It has that search so when you search something it scans for a virus first. It will say a check sign or a cross sign to say if it has a virus before you access it. Yeah, think this one deals with the problem 99% as well.

I recently did a full system reset, and installed Norton 2010. That was almost

2 weeks ago, I logged on today and my internet is running SUUUUUUUUPER

slow. I did multiple scans and got nothing but tracking cookies. My internet

wasnt lightening fast before, my house is too old to support super fast

internet, but I was doing around 500-1000 kbs. I just did a test and im at 10

kbs. It took 1 minute to download 1MB of data. Im really angry now, I finally

get my computer fixed and running and now i cant even stream videos. I

checked online for solutions and such and it wasnt very helpful. Im praying

the............enlightened minds of the BD community will be able to assist

me.

:D  :D  :D  :D :D  :D  :D

UPDATE: I use http://speedtest.netspace.net.au to check how fast its running, its spiking, not taking 1m for a 1mb now, but when I do the 10mb dl, i noticed that the speed starts at 100 kbs, and drops down to 20 kbs throughout the dl, any solutions?

I personally use a 100 kbps connection. I get like 150 though... Don't ask me why =S Weird provider...

Anyhow, de-install Norton. Seriously, it doesn't get worse, slower, whinier and more useless then Norjunk.

Get-Rid-Of-It.

See my post for suggestions >.> <.< Ad-Aware takes care of Trojans and all that slow down your internet... =\

Tracking Cookies shouldn't be deleted xD

Aside from Avast, i like to use Panda Cloud Antivirus but it is abit different from other anti-virus programs.

BTW Jasper, don't get your anti-virus and anti-spyware programs mixed up, they do different things :p.

Norton will, without doubt, eat your processing power and memory. For my windows PC, however, I currently use it, despite this. Reasons being:
-It's quick and easy for a PC I don't use very often.
-It's actually pretty good at it's job.

However, If I were to use the PC more often, i'd get rid of norton. I've heard good things about AVG and ZoneAlarm (AV and firewall respectively)
