The above is for you ducky. I think your a professor myself...
Anywho, I agree with Kolopaper. Pointing out one country and pointing all it's faults is silly. It's like choosing a model and pointing out her faults.
why thank you, its nice to be acknowledged :3
and im not just pointing out rwanda and saying its on fire...
im pointing out that:
USA shifts markets as recently seen in the GFC
USA shifts politics as i have mentioned with the CIA ensuring most of South America is so effed over that their own liberties look cooler then before
USA can drag other nations, who have no affiliation to the problem, just the country into war. Australia was dragged into Iraq war because John Howard slept with George Bush and decided it was best to enter a military conflict for lulz.
-Afghanistan at least, had reason >.>
USA and its actions affect every single person on earth.
this entire thread was dedicated to people that believed that USA epitomized the free world, in its social and political stance.
but i point out that its foreign policy makes 3/4 of the presidents hypocrites
power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. being the judge, jury and executioner and not telling the people that support your position who you execute is a dangerous position and it is important to point at the flaws. especially ones as big as those related to USA. these flaws are compounded by the attitude that USA are the 'good guys' and the rest of the international community can GTFO or give USA lower prices for goods.
in a sense, USA is a politician in power, the rest of the countries are on the lower rungs, to say we should stifle any criticism of USA is blatantly stupid because we are singling out someone. side line politicians are never hit as hard as the ones in power.
btw, Chile+Nicarugua+south America in general was just something i happened to come across in history class rather then pay attention
it was the Chile coup de tat that caught my attention. a democratic election elected a person that was openly marxist, even though USA backed the other party... oh noes! must give chile a MILITARY DICTATORSHIP instead of a horrible socialist leader! riding on US funding, said dictatorship lasted until 1990.
and now USA is justifying smashing Iraq on the grounds of "toppling a dictator"
also saw a video with Noam Chomsky and he is pretty extreme in his stance but raises several facts that just slap most "American facts" in the face
its sickening to repeatedly have "USA is the greatest ever in everything" thrown at me by cheerleader touting USA nubs
Reagon? -reagonomics with its trickle down was supported everywhere
i have heard - "Greatest president ever"
then you research nicaragua contras for about 10 minutes. note how he deliberately effed over another country

# targeting health care clinics and health care workers for assassination.
# kidnapping civilians.
# torturing civilians.
# executing civilians, including children, who were captured in combat.
# raping women.
# indiscriminately attacking civilians and civilian houses.

# burning civilian houses in captured towns.

19 million US dollars of aid.
went to the contras.
so they could rape women and torture civilians with US weaponry to defend their actions.
reagan asked for 36 million dollars.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran%E2%80%93Contra_affairtell me, what values does USA stand for again?
tell me how being a subtle hypocrite isnt worth criticism?
