Lol, I'd have been happy with workers.
Anyway, my worker count could have been much much higher. Let's assume there are 3 newb OPs every tick, so an average of 15 workers gained from those. I'll leave out the OPs taken from active players and serious competition for the sake of ease.
From that alone, you could gain 2500 * 15 = 37,500 workers in an era.
Then there are the wrecks, a potential 2500 wrecks. I believe if you get a perfect network asap and get a worldwide network as soon as possible, you can get 2000 wrecks. Wrecks give metal, oil, energy, workers, or tokens. So you have a 1 in 5 chance of workers, hence 400 wrecks give workers. A worker wreck has an average of 61 workers from what my statistics have shown, therefore that's another 400 * 61 = 24,400 workers gained.
Of course it is obvious that you also need to build an army if you want to get high power and be able to destroy your enemies. I believe I built the largest army so far, and my army was slightly under 5000 workers. Assuming you can coordinate so perfectly that you never lose a single unit, you can end up with around 45,000 workers. If I am perfectly honest I think I can accomplish getting 30,000 workers and a 6,000 worker army, which would be 1800 power. Add to that my assumption that I can end a world with 700 + conquers and I really do believe that I can win a world with 2500 power.
I also think that I can end a round with 2500 crystals and all 10 relics, so that'd be a nice score and a nice power level. Under this assumption my team would easily break both SKY's and GIFT's record.
But then again, this is asking for conditions that are currently not present for me (the assumption of time to check in almost every tick, a good team to work with, admins doing their job correctly....).
