Say a Relic comes out... Your alliance can get to it with an Eta of 3, a friendly alliance attacks with eta 5, Is it snipping to launch second with shorter distance to get a relic. Where do you draw the line for snipping, or is there a line?

Sniping is just a childish excuse to break off friendly status with a weaker alliance, or a last ditch attempt to get someone stronger than you to back off of something that you want. In the end, it's stupid and pointless, because in this game, might is right.

If you can get to the relic first, that's nice, but if the guys coming in behind you have an obvious power advantage over you, they'll be taking that relic whether you like it or not, because there's no in game mechanism that forces squads to turn back if they get beaten to the punch (except in the case of wreckages). If the team that gets there first (The team that's "sniping"), but have the squads to back it up, they'll keep their attack going you can bet your ass they will, and no amount of crying "You sniped me!!" will make them recall.

My thoughts on the matter are if it's ETA 4 or ETA 3, don't snipe. Anything longer take it. If It's an ETA 5 attack on the relic, Launch ETA 3 and take the crystals, and if the other alliance does not turn by the time they're ETA 1, move armies off and let them take it. Both alliances win :)

it's not just that apollo, if it's wreckage, conquer or even crystals, the more powerful side may turn in order to maintain the diplomatic status. However it's different with the relics.

Aye, but think about it. If an alliance is ETA 6 to the relic, and you're ETA 3, just take the shinies and run. they get a relic, you get the crystals. everybody wins.

I have never known an alliance to do that. Almost every alliance that does that understand. When you attack with a longer ETA, someone will attack it. And those that don't understand that, will end up losing.

If I ever had an alliance powerful enough or was powerful enough myself to take a relic, I would let them take the relic and just destroy their units somehow. Possibly through the powers of the flying spaghetti monster.

Apollo has a very good point concerning tick distance and most of the times, for wreckages or OPs, alliances might respect the tick distance rules and snipping rules but for relics, all bets are off unless the alliances are in good communication. The name of the game is getting relics.

What is considered a snip is is a 2 or 3 tick advantage from an ally or a friendly. Any tick larger than that isn't a snip. Same tick attacks aren't snips, although it might be considered wrong. You have to remember, this is a game of who's the strongest so always be prepared to attack strong.
