At approximately 7:55 PM on Friday, August 4th (earlier tonight), http://www.battledawn.com failed to load.

It was not a slow load, Firefox simply said the page could not be loaded, immediately after typing in the address. I checked other sites, they were working. Even BattleGalaxy was working. The forums (BD main) and the FB page were not.

About 5 minutes later, my antivirus detected spyware / a virus called something like "My_Resume-134" or something like that. Unfortunately I forget the file extension.

When it was ten minutes later, BD loaded again, only to give me the same 'page could not be loaded' error again. 5 minutes later, my antivirus picked up something else, whose name I forget, sorry.

Someone hacking BD? Was I the only one that saw BD come down? I had to go right after it happened, so I don't know if it's been discussed somewhere else but I didn't see any threads about it here.

I'm on a Mac and it was Sophos Antivirus that detected the threats.

No, but why does that matter? It's not about having viruses on my computer, which I don't because I cleaned them. It's about the possibility that the viruses came from BD during the time the servers were down. Smells really fishy.

Why would flash be the reason for my AV detecting viruses? For the LAST TIME, I'm not worried about the viruses - I'm worried about the viruses coming from BattleDawn. Stop dodging the issue.

And no one seems to want to investigate.

M8 I totally know how you feel, but you can't blame it on BD

the problem lies with your Firefox browser+Flash Player.

you see BD was designed to work in Firefox but firefox occasionally crashes/stalls/freezes webpages in flash because of it's bugs.

Try switching to an different web browser like chrome,Internet Explorer(most secure) etc, every browser uses an diffrent version of Flash Player.

It's not to say that those files where viruses btw,it might have seemed suspicious to your anti-virus software due to the fact that it's an automated file protocol which you might not have authorized manually (maybe),this file might have been sent by flash/firefox to collect data on the reason why it's struggling to contact/connect(etc.) to the BD servers.(means Bd isn't causing the possible Viruses instead your browser+Flash player interaction is)

GoodLuck :)

Did you read my post thoroughly? The detected file was called My_Resume-134.*

A name like that suggests it's meant to hide itself... like a virus would.

An File can be named and renamed to anything.

the logic your giving me is ----> If I download a Youtube video and it's name is the same as it's title it's an Copy of the original and contains viruses !.

EDIT: if it reassures you Avast+Bitdefender both have an good rating for BD as far as my knowledge goes, none of there users have ever gotten any virus from BD :geek:

Yes, a file can be renamed to anything. And a hypothetical virus named "My_Resume-134" is obviously named that way because it is meant to disguise itself as a normal file. I didn't download the file, it was picked up by my AV after coming to battledawn.com

And your AV's have a good rating so far ;)
