Norton's source code has been widely available on the net for some time from what I understand. I could be wrong, but I wouldnt trust it. I had a 1 year subscription free on my latest motherboard, and I opted for something else

It sounds to me like you would be better off just installing a new OS, or doing a clean install of your current OS.

Be sure to burn the LAN drivers for your machine off onto a disc (as well as backing up any files you want to keep) before you do though, so that you will be able to get access to the internet as soon as windows is done installing. From there, its usually as easy as going to your laptop manufacturer's website and getting the rest of the drivers for your system.

Thanks Seth and others,

I have found my CD for the laptop and will be reformatting it shortly. I have downloaded AVG for free for my new laptop. I have used it in the past and it seems to be a solid program.

Does anyone have thoughts about AVG? Are there others that protect just as well or better that are free?

Thanks

Chris
