not really, compared to the power/pollution efficency from the other main sources of power (which is gas and fossil fuel), nuclear power is way cleaner than the others.

I would say Scotland is a good example of a Country with these goals in mind. By 2020 they aim to have 100% of their electricity needs produced by renewables. Obviously ambitious, but going down the right road.

Polution from cars is a big problem too obviously, but I do believe we are heading in the right direction with that already. Not necessarily with the new electric cars that are coming out these days. But there is enough drive and funding for the researchers to eventually come up with a viable solution eventually.

Agreed. But the only problem to that is, in a hugely populated country like India or China, alternative sources of power just wont cover the needs.

Bigger population? Bigger and more fields of solar/turbines... Granted population density has a large part to play, but that doesn't mean they should just say "(Want to be allies? Sometimes I like to pretend I am a princess riding a pony..) it" and not even try to generate a large percentage of their electricity from renewable sources.

I don't think nuclear is the way forward. It is relatively "clean" compared to other methods, and can be safe etc. Supporters say that disasters and malfunctions are very rare. But they just aren't rare enough. The disasters do happen. And they can be largely effected by natural disasters, which, in 20-30-70 years time could become more freaquent and more devistating.

Plus, if we are thinking long-term for mankind. We can't just keep dumping growing amounts nuclear waste under ground and in the oceans.

Renewable and clean energy is a way to go but the problem is no much commitment can be generated from government and corporate or even the general public due to high initial capital to produce it, commercially.

Companies don't see a long term. They just look at the initial $ need to spent and how much money that get in return within that 2-3 years period.

People need to do more to put up the pressure for community to push the government towards green policies. Hopefully, this will come in nearest future ^^

But the main problem is that we cantdo about saving earh nothing.

1. We are addicted to fossile power.
2.Fissile power is good way to earn mony for govermenys and they arend letting whis just let go easly.
3.Our planet is alrdy pretty bad shape so best way is to start thinking of relocation to another (planet/solar cystem). And if we somehow even manage to do this in the far future for sure then we must pray that same dont happen there.

S yeah that was my stupid argue...and im gona stick with it.

Yes and now in about 200-500 years when humans are still alive then we are gona be a traveling race on universe who destroy planets to survive themselfs.
And spaceships with solar panels are defenetly a way to power ships...

guys human feces contain a large amount of energy. Pressure your govt. to use this obviously renewable source of energy.

not that easy... if the government and the business companies were that easy to convince, we would have 80% of the power generated by the renewable power sources...

It depends on how you see nuclear energy. The nuclear energyyou all are talking about, the kind that has.. What shall we call it. Slightly negative side-effects that can contaminate entire areas, that is nuclear fission.

Nuclear fusion is a much cleaner and potentially much more efficient way of producing energy. However it will take a lot of research and therefore a lot of investment before this is a viable option. In my opinion all these current power sources are merely temporary measures, even the solar energy and energy from wind turbines. Yes, they do create (relatively) "green" energy. However they are not very efficient, and have many problems associated with them. I do agree that they are better than fossil fuels, but they are in no way perfect and I do not think of them as long-term solutions.

In 50 years we'll all be using energy produced by nuclear fusion :)
