The only reason for the problem is if you are using a proxy

Or you have a virus

Viruses and worms will create your problem

The way you could have acquired the worm is if when you were downloading the toolbar your fire wall was down and a worm came in with the code

Now if you had a worm hiding in another site you had open then this is probably what happened

Or if you downloaded something and it was already in your hard drive it could have activated by a second activity worm that doesn't need much to sneak in and get the bigger one going

This is mainly caused if you go online or download online before you have a good security

Also most worms will attach themselves to the manufacturer setting so that if you reset it then it will still be active

But you need to do a system scan and get updates

Hopefully you just didn't get the full download of the toolbar bc your firewall saw something it considered to be a threat

This can happen for the simplest of reasons and isn't something to cause worry
