I agree that it doesn't matter what race we are. That doesn't mean it's wrong to ask/answer that question. Race matters as much as the colour of your hair matters. Would you have reacted the same way if I had asked that instead?

Oh so if someone hurts someones feelings the superhero mods get to come in and delete the posts, but guess what? THE FEELINGS ARE STILL HURT AND THE TENSION IS STILL THERE! Thats what these topics do.

No, because there are alot fewer stigmas and bigots around the world for hair colour. You don't know all of the people here, and some of them may be homophobic and/or racist. And now, because of these threads, you've basically given them a place to look to see who they should hate. I know it sounds bad, but there are people like that around. Trust me, I've seen the worst of them.

The point I'm trying to get across mainly, is that why does it MATTER what our individual races are? It opens it up to more racism, if only conscious racism, and you don't know about it, but you are commiting it.

Objectively, you're absolutely correct. Too many people are unable to be objective, though. If everyone were mature enough for this discussion I would have to side with Diaz here. However, this is not the case. While there is nothing wrong with the question at its essence, certain people can turn it into a horrific question. Just my opinion.

Yes, on a subconscious level, you may be. Because by learning other people's races, you are advancing the NEED for other people to identify their own race. Which in itself, is racism.

I'm not advancing the need for other people to identify their own race. If someone doesn't want to, they don't have to identify their race. If someone feels offended about it, then that's really their own thoughts that are bringing about their negativity about it. Not mine.

I don't mean it like that Diaze. I mean that by asking people what their race is, even if they don't post and tell you, makes them think of themselves as a part of a certain race, and not anything bigger. Once race stops being talked about as a whole, Earth will be a lot more of a peaceful place.

And what is the problem with people thinking of themselves as part of a race? If they truely think it doesn't matter, then they are fine with having that thought while reading such a question.
