I've had a discussion about a new game for the forum with Xeru and this is my idea. We'll make a Forum Based Real Time Strategy.
well it's a little bit different to BD. ------- The workers will be divided into 2 groups: the resource collectors and unemployed
the resource collectors are appointed into mine and oil well. Each one will generate 0.1 x lvl of building for each resources.
The unemployed are the only one u can used to build building and recruit. So if u don't have unemployed workers, u can't do anything. Workers used for building will be turned back as unemployed after the building is done.
For example, I have 400 workers, I use 200 for metal and 100 for oil with a lvl 5 mine and lvl 4 oil, so I will generate 100 metal and 40 oil per month. I build a building which requires 20 workers, so I have 20 workers left for recruiting troops.
The workers' jobs can only be changed once every 3 months, and will take a month to change.
Conquered colonies' production will be reduced by 20%
The score system is the same, colony will have a crystal for every 30 score they have. -------- Troops recruiting and building is the same as our BD. We'll need to make building a tick-based and workers needed too. -------- Attack takes 3 months and 90 oil / squad, reinforce take 2 months and 60 oil / squad. Attack to relics takes 5 months.
All troops movement must tell the hosts: number of troops send + number of squad.
When a battle happen, hosts will run a battle sim and see the winner.
Spy attacks are not in here (simply becuz we don't have 50% HP option), ion cannon will kill 12 soldiers (12 infantries, 6 vehicles or 4 tanks) and requires 400 energy (becuz we don't use energy for gate, spy or nuke) -------- The posts will be for hosts only, telling the movements of the troops, player's score, crystal and status (conquered or not) and the battle result (who win).
So simply put: - u send ur actions to the host (worker arrangement, troops recruiting, building, attacking, scan) - host will send u the result after each month (resource, troops in total, current building, battle report, events like crystals or worker joined). Scans will be replied immediately. - host post on forum the troops movement (ETA, how many squads), players' score and crystals, battle result.
To reduce the workload, we'll have one host for each alliance. -------- To encourage activity, we'll make it 2 ~ 3 days / month. -------
Xeru told me that he's gonna think about it, but that lazy guy just go home, sleep and forget about this. So I post the idea here for u guys to suggest and punch in more ideas and stuff about the game :3

Ok. One question: when you say jobs take a month to change, during that month the workers will still be in their jobs?
I think it's an interesting idea. I'd like to test this out on RP first, just a few people who can be active...I propose running a 2 man (alliance) game first you and me, and you can host. We'll see if there are balance issues, plus people can get a better grasp on how this works. I'm also interested in seeing what strategies are in this game...well, let's run a test and find out.
