This discussion seems to make no tactical sence. I will for the time being presume when you are speakingof "Sub's" you are speaking of sub guilds or trainer guilds. Why would you argue against these?
First, to the best of my understanding, the game allows alliance victories ( presume and alliance is a group of guilds?), which means a group of guilds has a better chance of winning then a single guild.
Second, Sub guilds allow new players protection of more powerful or experienced player while they learn the game. I have played in games where sub guilds are either banned or "ungentlemanly". and new players get steamrolled.
Third, since the map has no limiting terrain features besides oceans, any form of coordinated defensive strategy relies primarily on minimizing the number of people who might attack you via NAP. In this light, a sub guild is simply 20 more people you don't have to worry about attacking you.
Lastly, your argument against coalitions openly counters your argument against sub guilds. Victory in a game with no strategic or tactical limitations to movement is largely a matter of "Zerg rushing" your opponents. Thus, the group who can get the most units to attack fastest will usually win. Thus, either a coalition or a sub guild is a sound stratagem, as this allows more troupes then ones opponents.
In short, the limitation on the size of ones guild is what makes both coalitions ans sub guilds sound strategies. If i have missed something in this argument, please clarify.

HAHAHA this is all fun too hear. Its gonna be hilarious when edwin appoints the new leader of NEK2 and we get in the top 10 But for HKF and MES i respect all of you guys but if the UN goes to war with u guys then we go to war, simple. Just like the real world today, England goes to war with Afghanistan, the U.S.A goes to war.
