Is it possible to talk in the world chat once you are in an alliance?

Once I joined an alliance the chat thing goes to alliance chat, and I can't find a way to change it to world chat. Any help, or is that impossible?

Open up the alliance chat, and type in /world.

To go back from world to alliance you type /alliance.
