1.

admins when playing don't have any admin power, they use a different account, and thus it's just a normal account like us.

however, since they are admins, they will be watched more closely. And in fact, when an admin get banned, doesn't matter if it's a misunderstanding or not, he lose his job. Ask Milan for more details.

How can we believe in the admins watching their friends? because we simply believe in them. How can we believe in the admins for not playing favors to the big boosters? How can we believe in the admins for not helping the cheaters? We just believe, simple.

2.

Between watching an era, and actively taking part in the era itself, which one can get u closer to the features in the game? Which one can get u to understand more about the game, about the annoying parts, about the parts that need to be improved, about the parts that the players like and the parts that should be removed immediately?

Admins playing the era, not just for their own enjoyment, it's also to observe wat it's like playing the game, wat it's like using the features that they think are good for the game, then try to improve the game from a player's standpoint.

3.

Ur arguments with "employees shouldn't be customers" is null. Employees are always encouraged to use their own company's products, either with a discount or even as gifts. First it's the image, second it's being proud that you are part of the company, third it's to get feedback as the customers for their own products.

tl;dr I have no problem with them playing the game, even competitively.

True that.. Even when you're not actually cheating and the admin that banned you later admits that

Admins play so that they know how the game is played nowadays. Simmen played in BME, and more competitively than Joe, Tom is playing this round as well. Didn't hear anything about that.

I think the underlying problem here is a lack of trust. This might be generalizing, but I do believe Simmen and Tom are trusted more simply because they interact with the community much more, both in the forums and in chats. Joe is quite quiet, and hard to get in touch with. Not many know him "personally" from the forums or chats, so he isn't trusted as easily.

However, it's really simple as this. Do you really think Joe would be dumb enough to risk his job over playing a round to end in what, 12th place? He is just chilling there and leading his alliance, he isn't going for the win in any way, is watched very closely, barely has conquers, barely has OPs.. He just builds up from the mass boosts and tries to participate in some wars, from what I see. If anything, that should be applauded. He stays way more up to date on current mechanics and current gameplay than he would if he was "above" it all, just watching.

So yeah. My 2 cents.

As much as I agree on some of the things you say, I feel the need to correct you on some parts.

1. It's not a question of "just believing", it's a question of Tacticsoft still being a company. Doing such things would harm the image and thereby the profit of Tacticsoft. Michael built this game with hard work but even his pockets have limits, you can't ask people to have faith in anyone.

You can, however, expect Michael to make sure his admins are of a superior quality.

Until now, there has never in my time at Battle Dawn, over 6 years, been a case where admins used their powers for their own in game advantage.

Therefore we can conclude it is unlikely the system is flawed to a point where it is possible.

2. I would also like to note it makes admins care.

Many administrators were hired directly from the player base. I know Admins Simmen, Routhy and Ilona will rage and shout if Michael decides to for example, remove spies from the game. Because they are, of origin, players of the game. Truly simply people like you and me who choose to bite the bullet and work to keep the game they love as best as they can and improve it where possible. I sincerely doubt they would consider staying as Admins if they believe the game is no longer fun, interesting, worth spending their time on. That's important. They stand up for the players. Admins like Seth and Joe judge purely based on facts, statistics and mass opinions, which is very advantageous in some scenarios, but the player admins also have the emotional perspective on the game. The feeling it gives and what makes Battle Dawn oh so much different from any other game out there.

In the end, games are both works of creativity like art where emotion is a large factor and works of engineering like an application where facts and statistics are large factors. We need both to keep a balance and have a clear representation towards Michael.

And thus both should be encouraged and kept strong at any and all times.

The only thing that might need to change, is administrators publicly admitting their play, as it seems the same concerns are repeated over and over again, no many how times they are dis-proven.

3. Completely agree.

I've played a lot of games where admins are faceless beings, often operating behind a ticket system. I personally feel that this is a bad way to operate because it means players don't feel in any way connected to the people who run the game they play. They never get to talk to admins. They have no idea who these people are.

At battledawn, things are very different. Every admin here has some degree if ingame playing experience (some were staff first, and played a little, some went from players to staff) - The admins can all be reached (some a little more than others) and in general, we're happy to have a chat about almost anything with the players.

I like this, I think it's a part of what makes battledawn so great. I think the divide between player and admin is thin, and that we all work together to make this game great. I think admins playing the occasional era is a great way to encourage this. It makes the admins seem even more accessible, and also keeps the admins more in-tune with how the game works. I think the knowledge you gain from actually experiencing the game rather than just reading changelogs is vast. I've seen a lot in the CE that I'd never seen before, and it's certainly refreshed my knowledge a lot. I don't see how that can be a bad thing.

TL;DR: The admins don't cheat. If they beat you, they were just better.

FYI: I am hopeful that DR will be mentioned in the next article, as us being overlooked is an absolute travesty I tells ya! :P

I can't really list everyone in the war >.< I can only mention those who participated in the big battles.
