This might be a stupid question with the answer posted everywhere already, but I can find it anywhere. Whats the max number of members in an alliance? And what info do you get from spies that you cant get from scanning?

spies dont give you information they let you do other things like damage units or or prevent units from leaving

You don't scan with spies. Spies are to cause damage either by: - Bringing infantry, vehicles, or tanks down to 1 Hit Point (HP) - Locking down an Outpost (OP) or colony so your enemy can't leave. - (i think) you can also attack their colony by burning up oil and knocking down their energy, or even knocking down the their popluation.
Or provide you colony/ops protection against spy attacks.
