I just joined and went through the tutorial. Looking around tells me to start over. How do I delete from a world and do that. Or is there a way beyond creating a new account?

To delete your colony click on the profile button on the top right of the screen(in-game), you can also click on your colony to get into your profile. Click the Delete colony link on the left side and type in your current password, click Delete colony on the bottom right and so long as you do not log into your account for 24 ticks your colony will delete. After it is deleted you can log in again with the same username/password and place a new colony if you want to. Just make sure to wait the 24 ticks before you do!
Hope that helps! -Andrew
