whats the point of ION Cannon anymore?

it takes up an unreal amount of energy, you can only ION incoming attacks to your stuff. if someone is attacking my sub i can only ion the colonies of the attackers but not their units or their missiles. WHAT THE HECK IS THE POINT OF THIS TOOL ANYMORE?

i remember being ioned by 5 different alliances while being attacked, is that still possible and if so WHAT THE HECK !! Makes no sense if 5 alliances can attacked you and ion you but your allies cant help you defend by ironing the attackers?

does anybody use besides noobs wasting a ton of energy even use ion cannons anymore? the only use i know is when your attacking someone and then its just a waste cause missiles do more and cost way less, or defending but there seems to be rules on that that make it impossible to really have need for ion cannon.

i vote get rid of it

ion cannon is used mainly to shoot down nukes for when your squads are locked down for example so its worth it you lose all your units or you put up a big fight and maybe win if enemy squads are coming 1 tick afterwards

If anyone could ion anyone, then it would be a contest of which alliance can get the most friends and subs to ion targets. There would be no danger of being nuked overnight or when you're out anymore. Nukes would be rendered (almost) useless. Ion cannons are ok the way they are, though maybe the cost could be lowered to 200 E.

reason is stated in YNM's post. the ion cannon is used for destroying nukes only, it's not meant to use on troops.

Not only nukes they can used to delay squads which is for emergency really as they don't do much damage but used to delay them so your units get another tick to move.......

it only deleys one squad for every ion canon you fire so unless its only 2 squads most will make it through

correctly, each members can fire at most 2 shots so in the most desperate situation u can push back 20 squads, however, the attackers can recall and attack again, which wasted ur 20 ion cannons.

If u boost a lot and convert them all to energy there will be more shots, but then again, it's a waste of energy since they can just return and attack again.
