Specifically I envision a "two-handed" sword that takes up two side slots on your mech, uses two action points when swung and does massive damage over range 1-2 with serious knockback.
Something like:

2-slot melee weapon
Consumes 2 action points
60 weight
5 resistance drain
110-175 damage
3 knockback
2 range
-15 energy per use
+10 heat per use
I was thinking this as well. It could be used to create otherwise OP weapons that do huge damage, heat/energy damage etc. I like it.
