I agree 110%, this is actually the reason I came to the forums.

I was also thinking along these lines for weapon slots as well, you could boost you ammo of a certain type or heat sync or energy stabilizers, however you would be reducing your mech's versatility in combat as you would have fewer weapon slots with which to utilize.
