Is there any way we could get cheaper gear, or better rewards for fights? Because I'm having a hard time getting a mech up to fighting condition, and I'm level 23. It seems like there should either be more cash for the fights, or the gear should be cheaper, or at least a better refund on sold items, because I can hardly keep my mech up and running between buying more repair kits, and keeping my weapons stocked. I feel there isn't enough incentive to play if I can't earn enough to change up my layout often to try different things.

You can try to accumulate money and buy a full build at once, you don't have to buy everything in the shop :)

I'm not wanting to buy everything in the shop, but I want to be able to have a few outmods, not sell everything I own just to buy a new arm because I think it might work, and then find out that I wasted my money on an arm that hinders my overall layout, and then I can't sell it back to get my old arm back. It kinda blows, and it would be really nice to not have such a crippling financial design hindering my ability to enjoy the game.

The point of this game is not just fighting, it's strategy :)
You need to plan ahead, you have to think what would be good with a torso(especially this, since the torso is the core of your build, a lot of things depend on it), module, weapon, or something else. you will need to examine each item properly for the build you're planning(you can choose a level to build your mech at, it can be higher than your own level if you want to), and decide what would be the best for you, hold that in your mind, and buy when you can. if you have bought the wrong item, you can sell it for a full refund if you don't exit the workshop. NEVER EVER SELL YOUR OLD BUILD UNTIL YOU CAN COMPLETE YOUR NEW BUILD WITH THE MONEY YOU GET FROM IT. Also I wouldn't recommend to sell your old build even if you can get the new build. There is a chance that it might not work well, and by selling your old build, you'll lose your credit source if that's the case.
So, a summary: don't buy a lot, never sell what you have bought(unless you still can get a full refund) and plan what to buy.
I understand you concern, I really do, but think about this: If anyone was able to sell everything with a full refund no matter what, than the game would lose some of it's depth. this feature is put to make the players think more about what to buy, since this makes it more strategic.

Whoa that was a long post...
Hope you can understand what I mean, cheers :)

the system is made to accomodate the premium players, who will have just enough for upgrades and trying out some stuff. if a lvl 27 mech with rare stuff costs around half a million, I can't see a regular player grinding out the millions I imagine it takes higher up the ranks.

I'm not looking for a full refund, but if I drop 22 grand or more on an arm or a shoulder mount, I would like more than the piddling 1,200 or some odd that is offered to me for it.

There is already a level of strategy due to the fact that you have to carefully consider your buys, because if you buy the wrong stuff, you have to deal with it for a few fights until you earn enough to buy a different limb. The least they could do is remove some of this burden by adjusting the prices in SOME way. Is it really so necessary to fight ten or more fights to even consider buying a new weapon?

It's detracting from my enjoyment of the game, and I'm sure it's detracting to others, as well. Maybe adjust the costs or rewards so that we can consider buying a new limb after only five fights. Just something to actually have some sense of economic coherence.

Because if you think about it from a more immersive perspective (as I often do, because I like my games to have some element of immersion), if Pilots aren't earning, then they can't buy new items. If they can't buy new items, Mech Shops lose money. So it comes to reason that the pilots either earn more to pay the obviously gouged prices, or the Mech Shops lower their prices so as to actually have customers.

I think more point is a little more clear in that metaphor.

I think I've misunderstood your point before, sorry about that and thanks for making it clear :)
Current refund price of the shop is %25 of the purchase price, and this is not enough to test a weapon, that's a fact. And there are a lot of people suffering from it. There has been some topics with some ideas about solving this problem, I'll give the link of one of them here, which I find useful instead of increasing the refund price.
Here is the link:Click here
I hope that you'll like it too.
Edit: Until this is solved, you can do as I said in my previous post, this way you can avoid it as much as possible...
But be careful choosing your build, because if it fails, you might need to change more than just a weapon...
Cheers :)
