Well I am pretty ticked off.... I was playing in my level 17 gear and once I hit level 20 I could not enter matchmaking under level 20. I understand why, but a little warning would have been nice before I purchased a ton of expensive gear at level 17.

Just put up a warning screen or even better ADD IT TO THE WIKI. Because I found nothing that said I couldnt continue to play on the same matchmaking as I leveled up.

By the way, I just hopped over here from battledawn to see all the hype... Was relatively happy until this happened.

dont worry pete, it screwed us all. just start grinding at single player and you'll get through. this is the only time of my playing i got more losses than wins

A few days ago I decided to farm the lower levels. So I spent a relevantly big amount of SM credits for building a kick ass level 17 Mech.

Then I got the message that I can’t use a Mech below lvl 20.

I was farmed by the system…

Essentially the same thing that happened to me... Is there any other tier that I should be worried about?

Is this going to happen to me at 30..40... etc

From what I know, It only happens at levels 10 and 20. So no, you don't have to worry about it at levels 30, 40, etc....

I suppose its ok... I've still only suffered 1 legitimate loss, the rest have been a case of Boss-over-shoulder syndrome... (Which has costed me 6 losses today alone :evil:

Deleted your post and in response to your question level 21 is the only time you hit a hard cap like that. From now on you will be able to play any level mech/gear you want above 20 while having your matchmaking remain fixed on your current build.

Ok, time for me to come in

Normally, matchmaking level is the level of highest level equipped item, which is any item.
But, there are two lowest lv caps, one, when you hit lv 11, it makes the lowest matcmaking lv you can get in ladder matches 10. The second makes it 20 when you reach lv 21.
Other matches(private and singleplayer) don't get affected although in private matches it shows your mathmaking lv still as 20, but it doesn't affect who gets the first turn in those battles.
