has anyone considered the advantages of using shield 1 vs using shield 4 at higher levels, say 40 and up? it protects less, however it shields for longer because it doesn't eat up the energy

just a thought

Just do the math.

Energy Shield 1 = 20% protection at the cost of 1 energy for 2 damage.
Energy Shield 4 = 50% protection at the cost of 1 energy for 1 damage.

For example, if opponent does you 100 damage then,
Energy Shield 1 = 80 HP & 10 energy lost.
Energy Shield 4 = 50 HP & 50 energy lost.

In 5 hits (500 dmg),
Energy Shield 1 = In total of 400 HP & 50 energy lost.
Energy Shield 4 = In total of 250 HP & 250 energy lost.

If you don't plan to increase your energy capacity or you have weapons that are needing energy go for weaker shields.
But at that up high, having a better shield does help since weapon damage is pretty high.
Also, the key using better shields is to have nice energy capacity and regeneration.

Hi, I used a level 1 shield against you, that is why you couldn't drain it through damage.

I consider it to be more effective than level 4 shield for mechs lower than 33.

thanks :) that is a useful detail

Build, fight and prevail my friend!

:)

thanks man, you the same :)

at lower levels, damage drain is done more than your limits, which are quite low than in high levels

and a level 1 stops 40% of the damage with half the cost in energy, so your shield is drain 80% less than a level 4 per hit.

of course, the rest is in the damage itself, so you might counterbalance this mishap with some strong resistance modules (i use resistance modules up to lvl 33 included).

My tactic: Kiss of death, if you have more swords than your opponent, they can't kill you in melee, all they can do is push you away and run.
PS. You need a good amount of health and heat capacity.

Kiss of Death
