for the normal log in you need the username and the password. When you click on 'lost password' you'll have to enter your email address. This automatically deactivates your useraccount till you click on the link in the email which will be sent to you and also you'll get a new password.
So basically, you need to know the emailaddress, the username and the email login to 'hack' someone. Its for most games the standard procedure and I don't really see a need to change it.
Of course, you have to take care that it is:
- not to easy to guess
- you change all passwords from time to time
- you don't give out your account details or share accounts with anyone
