Actually, I worded the rule incorrectly. I meant that you could not definitively prove to someone that you were such role. I was always fine with people claiming roles in public, it's really annoying to claim roles in private though! I mean the main dynamic difference is that in public the bad guys have the chance to counter-claim and get the other person lynched, then kill any other important roles. It gives the town a chance to receive a counter-claim, get them lynched and suddenly they have a clear leader other than BttB. It's a double-edged sword and I like that style of play.

In private, there's no chance to counter-claim. So either the bad guys immediately start messaging people or lose.
