My little sister read the hobbit, but she didn't find it interesting.

I think next I'm going to read

A thousand splendid suns and SkyBreaker

Of actual published books though I would have to say the 'Temeraire' series other known as 'His Majesties Dragon' series would really good. The story gets very long and boring at times, but all leads to epic events.
naomi novik really put effort into building her characters and after I read the 6th book I wanted more ;D

About series:
The Temeraire series of novels by Naomi Novik is composed of His Majesty's Dragon (released as Temeraire in the United Kingdom), Throne of Jade, Black Powder War, Empire of Ivory, Victory of Eagles, and Tongues of Serpents. The novels are works of both fantasy and alternate history: they are "a reimagining of the epic events of the Napoleonic Wars with an air force — an air force of dragons, manned by crews of aviators

Recommended to anyone who likes History and Dragons :)
