Common differences:
Slug has no shell, making it lighter and thus faster.
Snail has shell, making it heavier and slower. But can hide from danger inside it.
Slug is more evolved and ditched carrying shell millions of years ago.
Snail is more evolved and started carrying shell millions of years ago.
Slug is more streamlined
Snail has larger mass.

let's say...
slug = spy (since they move faster)
snail = armor
in war, spy is powerful. While armor is let dying.
Hence, slug > snail.

I'm not sure the size of snails in other parts of the world .. But here they're fairly small for the most part.. And slugs get pretty big and slimey .. Making it able to climb over the snail producing that thick nasty slime you see when you mess with them or pour salt on it.. And leaving it stuck in a pile of UGHH ... But thats why i hate them and kill the slug helping the snail win
