alright, a little backstory. My brother and i are going to be getting the original pokemon red and blue versions come christmas, and we're gonna have a couple of fights (one after the 4th gym, one after the 8th gym, one after the elite 4, and a final showdown when our teams hit lvl 100) and i want some help coming up with an amazing team.
He'll be using charizard, always does. I personally prefer Blastoise so thats already one in my roster, but can you guys give me some ideas for the remaining 5 pokemon (and move sets) for my team?
Rules: 1. no legendaries 2. no missingo cheat
Thats it, so any help is appreciated!

not really, i'm open to almost any pokemon.
I originally was going to have my team as follows: Blastoise Arcanine Raichu Vaporean Alakazam Nidoking
But i've found a few flaws recently, and i wanted to correct those in my team.

vary true, but electricity tears him apart being both flying and water, and my brother is sure to have several pokemon each with an electric attack.

i'd nix vaporeon since you'll already have blastoise. instead, pick volteon. speedy and powerful. i'd personally use muk for the sake of a powerful meat sheild.

eh, jolteon was a favorite of mine for a while, but its stats are a lil' on the low end so im not to keen on the choice...
I'm mostly looking to replace arcanine (due to the fact it cannot learn flamethrower aside from growlithe at lvl 50, thus dramatically lowering overall stats if i want to learn flamethrower), vaporean, and possibly change raichu out.

oops, jolteon. *facepalm*
maybe gengar? they're relatively fast with good defenses. plus protection from fighting types in the even he's using machamp.

i know he wouldn't use machamp, but theres a 90% chance he'll have Poliwrath which is part fighting. So thats a good possibility, i know using hypnosis and dreameater is a nasty combo.

and who doesn't love blasting away at somebody with shadow ball lol.
as for a fire type your choices are pretty limited. ninetails is too easy to mess up with.
i'd also consider arbok w/ glare for easy paralysis.
