I'm a HUGE fan of RPGs like Dragon Age: Origins, played DA:O through 3 times, on my 4th playthrough.
I'm thinking of putting it down after this playthough and was wondering if you guys knew of any really good RPGs that I could look into.
What I'm not considering: Dragon Age 2 (Doesn't have the RPG elements that I'm looking for)
What I am considering: Both Witcher 1 and 2 (Looks like the type of game I'm looking for)

I just played through Fable 3 last month after buying it at gamestop for 6 dollars used
It was amusing and fun to do. It starts a little slow, and the beginning quest makes it feel like the game is on rails a little, but after you get through the initial couple of quests, it is open world as well. It is nowhere near as expansive as say, Oblivion (elder scrolls IV), but it is still quite extensive and has plenty to do, achieve and build on. It also is sandbox in that you are constantly faced with choices that either tilt you toward evil or good.
You can end up being an evil bastard or a righteous being by the end of the game, and both are very amusing. Many decisions and deeds in the game lean to adult theme content though, so one should make note of this before deciding to play.
Some of the side things you can do to occupy your time before commencing on the main game quest are:
- Have children / Marry & build a family, or several families in each town should you so choose. You can also develop more intimate relationships with your spous(es) and children by buying them toys and gifts etc.
- Purchase vendors and stores to get a chunk of profits periodically from each.
- Make pies, play "lute hero" (a' la' guitar hero) or become a master blacksmith. (all 3 can be an amusing way to earn gold to suppliment your fortune)
- Hunt and shoot foul-mouthed gnomes scattered throughout the entire world (they are amusing to listen to and easy to spot, as the instant you get near them they begin to insult you constantly)
And much more.
Being as the game is inexpensive and offers at the very least (running through the story line quest without doing any more) several hours of content, its worth a try.
I had never played any of the Fable series up to this point, But I am told that Fable 2 was even better.
Overall though, if you have never played Elder Scrolls Oblivion, dude...You GOTTA play that game! Ive had the game for 3 years and still have yet to touch on all of the content. I have beaten the main storyline quests, but have since purchased 2 expansions for it and have yet to play through those storylines (either of them) in full. Its a HUGE game with plenty to explore and build upon. Literally a years + worth of entertainment guaranteed!

I'd like to +1 Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. Although the sequel is even better than the first, you should play through the first so you can export your save file to Mass Effect 2. I've just completed my third playthrough of ME2.

If you're a great fan of the Diablo series, Diablo 3.

Lock yourself in a freezer for 5 months until Skyrim is out.
If you liked DA:O play Mass Effect 1&2. Witcher feels too much like a single player MMO to me.
