they are and arnt. There like the mac of the PC world. However there Verry stable. There What are considerd Married compnants.

IE , The Firmware is designed specificaly for each part knowing that it is Due to work along side part XXXX

unlike the other 99% of laptops, wich are Generic parts. Or Manufaturer Specific... Randomly put together

They are. I had one. Biggest piece of trash you can buy. They start giving problems shortly after bought, I am not the only one I know to have problems with alienware just in case you may think it's only me.

Also the repairs do add up quiet a bit, mine cost a new computer to fix. :s
A few of my friends had the same problem.

Yeah, I have heard a girl with the same problem as you Javier, but I wondered if she was just terrible with computers.

I have already had 1 laptop that was terrible, I don't want to end up buying another one. The one I got from school I got for like 200$ and it has lasted for 3 years, the other one I payed 4-5 times as much for died after 6 months.

It's not us I tell you somehing is wrong with those things!

Enough of the rant and back to the subject.

I generally recommend TOSHIBA they sell good laptops for good prices, and atleast in my experience they have bee quiet realiable. Other than that watch out for the last ATI readon video cards. They have been issues with it and they have the worst costumer service possible (after EA).

The TOSHIBA laptops I could find at the same price were worse then the one I were originally looking at. I have also come to the conclusion that I'm adding alienwear to my "not gone buy" list along with mac.

Also, what is the chance that I will need more then 1GB dedicated vid memory?

Another one is 150$cheaper, and the only thing that is really different is that it got 1 GB dedicated vid memory, and the other one got 2 GB (they both have 2 818 MB shared vid memory. And that the most expensive one got a speed of 2,1 GHz while the cheaper one got 2,0 GHz. Is it really worth it?

It depends. The processor diffrence is a bad joke. The Dedicated vid well, I say it's not worth it. The only thing you will get is a nicer look in games, but the cheaper one can manage ok. So it's your call
