Okay, so, as an agnostic, you do believe in some sort of "higher power."

Nope, I believe there may or may not be a higher power, and live my life how I want to live it, not under the rules of a higher power that, for all I know, may not exist.

Oh. So this higher power of yours, or not, is governed by your rules? You take no "side" to whether there is something higher?

Then get the hell out of my thread?

Max, Not at any point, St. Peter was declared "head of the church". It was his job (in my view) to create the church, not to lead it.

And you have any idea how the first proven *Pope which is sure to have lived* pope became pope?

If I am correct, he was a bishop who declared himself pope because he found that, seeing the fact he was the bishop of "St. Peter's church", he had the right to lead the church.

He wasn't made pope by revelations, or gods, he was made pope by manipulating world leaders into accepting him. Read something other then the bible about it, for the heck of it.

I am not sure about this bishop declared pope. But I am pretty sure you can't have a bishop without a pope in the first place. That, I believe comes from the Council of Hippo.
Peter was indeed the leader. Jesus said to shepherd his people. To shepherd was to lead. Peter did not create or found the Church; Jesus did.

We got different names for the church ranks here, so I might have messed up translating.

I disagree, Jezus created christianity. When Jezus was gone, there was christianity. In my opinion, Peter created the church.

Facts and opinions are different. When Jesus was alive, there was Judaism. Upon his death, he created Christianity. True, the word "Christian" was made by man, the concept was not. Peter lead and organized the church, but did not create it.

Those land over baptist guys (so called christians) are the worst I have ever seen.... I don't think it has anything to do with the topic but here's a link http://www.landoverbaptist.org

It's funny on their forums cause they consider r@pe to be a good punishment for women, they seem to hate anyone that isn't American and white, they look in the homosexuality in video games instead of the violence like everyone else does and blah blah blah. They hate everyone too including catholics (which I am)

Satanics or w/e they're are called are better than them cause all they do is smoke weed while these guys own black and mexican slaves, err I mean "low payed workers" and a whole lot of land...

Not saying Christians are bad but I'm saying these guys are bad.

Just thought I'd throw that in cause it's pretty funny

(don't hate me for posting this or anything.... I'm just bored lol)

Edit: I didn't know that word would be censored..... Also this was against these guys or website or w/e not Christians entirely

anyways, those are what you call fundamentalists, you should know to take the religious texts with a grain of salt.
fundamentalists and extremists give religion a bad look to the rest of the world. the islamic fundamentalists bomb buildings. the inquisition to spread gods word resulted in rape and murder. the crusades resulted in murder and bigotry.

just dont become this and im cool with whatever you believe in :D

I believe it foolish to claim to know if there is or isn't a higher power, since there are no definete answers to that question.

If there is a higher power, I must simply trust my feelings, since following any religeon, for all I know, could just be trusting the feelings of other people, and not neccesarily a higher power.

If there is no higher power, well, that's no big loss to me.
