BBC Article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8485669.stm

A fusion power project in the USA started 13 years ago, and it finally was completely built and ready to go online in May of 2009. It was used on Jan 28, and revealed that the plasma created by the laser, which was originally thought to be a problem, did not affect the laser's performance at all. Fusion power is said to be able to supply the world with power for millions of years, if created on a large scale.

Is it the new future of energy?

(Please read the BBC article, don't have time to write a full summary right now.)

I heard about this.

If this scientific reaction could be done on a larger scale of elements from the periodic table then energy wouldn't be a problem.

That's pretty hard, even the sun doesn't rely on that, over 99% of the energy from the sun is from Hydrogen --> Helium.
When the sun starts doing Helium --> Beryllium --> Carbon --> Oxygen it will become a red giant.

So doing anything other than Hydrogen fusion is out of the picture.

You never know my friend.

Possibilities are endless.

The future for the Earth will rest on the advanced techonology people may have.

Well fusion power is far better than nuclear power. But i still think hydropower is better than both :) Clean power to the world :)

hydro kills off a massive area of land in the reservoir. not all places can have hydro power.

fusion is clean and efficient... once working.

Dude here we have only hydropower almost.. Have little gas power, little wind power, little wave power. (Norway) We are an ideal country for hydropower and and hydropower does not use alot of land. Ive seen them they do not take up alot of space as gas power plant does or nuclear power plants...
