Wow... so pretty much anybody regardless of age, religion, sexual orientation, or residence can be legally detained by the US government. Great. I'm starting to actually think about this new world order stuff. Still confused as to why these things are taking place and who's behind it all though...

What would you say if I told you that from now on, all legislation in the Congress would be consolidated from a few hundred congressmen* down to 13 people whom you do not get to elect, with the rest of congress outside of these 13 people would get no say outside of simply saying yes or no, AND that if congress did not agree with these 13 people that "triggers" would be activated which would force the legislation of said 13 people through to law anyway?

I would say that it's complete crap and I would hate to see something like that happen.

It will take every American in the country to stand up against our government to even think about changing it. 1 man cant do it alone. I would like to see every American just for 1 day not pay taxes, buy no petrol/gasoline, pay no bills, basically hurt our government thru their very deep pockets. A nation wide boycott so to speak. Just remember nothing is going to change until we Americans act on it and stop talking about it.

Hehe. Thats the way Gandhi used to fight. The Non-cooperation movement. Boycott everything and turn it into a loss. Unfortunately I am not sure this will work in these times. People are too selfish and worried about their own problems.

BTW the indefinite detention of US citizens - This is something that we in India tried. It was called POTA - Prevention of Terrorist acts. Pretty much anyone who was even suspected of terrorism could be detained indefinitely without a warrant and without proof for as long as needed. This started to be misused by people in power, cuz they started getting their rivals arrested in order to prevent them from competing against them in elections or to defame them etc.., So when the next government came to power, they repealed the law. Thankfully.

It is because of the brand of capitalism that the US follows. It is corporatism at its highest levels. In short, they are at war, in order to earn money. They spend trillions there while domestic needs are put on the backburner. So to prevent people from asking questions, individual freedom has to be limited. Therefore they come up with stuff like Patriot act, NDAA 2012 etc., There could be more to it, but this could be a major factor behind such laws.

BTW I wouldn't be surprised if concentration camps are set up inside the US. After all, they will be managed by private corporations that will earn money because of it.

If you guys let this continue, sorry to say America is gonna turn fascist :?

Wait a minute.... wouldent congress have to pass this??? And if they do.... im pretty sure most of them would not want to loose there jobs.... this would never pass....

But for all the other argurments.... I agree

and Simmens quote *Democracy is the right to pick your own dictator*

Hes right..... you pick a person that commands the army.... and if he really wanted war with someone.... He could just do an execuative order.... He has to much power....

Your all right... there needs to be a change >: (

Hunta. My dear naive friend...They already passed it.

By a landslide no less.

That is why I said that you all need to pay attention. Start writing your elected officials and letting them know how you feel about it.

Sitting on your hands and thinking "why would they do that?!" is not stopping them from doing it.

And you damn-sure will not see Corporate News Network talking about it! The corporations want you under lock and key if they cant keep you fat happy and clueless.

I really hope I am serving to open some eyes around here. Being wise has regrettably not become part of American culture. Not like it was once upon a time....

Just google stuff my friend. You will find tons out there. You would have to ask questions like - Why the US wars, how the US foreign policy is written - and for this you would have to examine US history through the cold war (effects of events in history on US industrialization and how war is connected to it), what caused terrorism as we see it today, what are the political and economic motivations behind the wars the US is fighting AND the reason why Osama provoked war in the first place, how the media and corporations are connected to politics and finally the effects domestically in the US (laws passed or repealed to facilitate US foreign policy and corporatism).
