What time is it?
It's debate time!
Should euthanasia be legalised?
Go!

No.
What's to say someone is in a well enough state to call judgement on their own life if they are contemplating ending it? Also your death will effect others, which is avoidable right now because this option isn't available :)

I would call it inhumane to do it without the family's consent. Same with abortion I feel like it's the family's decision not mine, yours, or even the doctors right to decide whether or not someone lives or dies.

That's my opinion, if a family member is painfully suffering and the doctors confirmed that there is no way of making it better and the family all agreed that it's the best decision. I see no reason not to.

I agree with Anarchist. I also think, that the patient must be diagnosed with a serious illness, and must have AGREED (before he/she fell sick and is in a sound state of mind) to be able to be euthanised if their family agreed it the best option for them.

Yes, it is just a pretty word for suicide. Think about it this way.. You're 82 years old. You're stuck in an old age home with a severe case of alzheimers, not able to feed yourself, speak, or toilet yourself. Your wife, kids and grandchildren have been visiting you every weekend for the past year and a half, only to see your condition deteriorate every visit. I would prefer to have a peaceful, timely passing where everybody is with me, than be stuck in that situation any longer.. Continuing to be a burden on my family.
