Secondly, restricting sharing stuff over the internet is a draconian law.
Distributing copyrighted content without the owner's permission is also, very illegal.

If this law was passed, yes. It would just be kids in their basements.

If a website is barred, other websites like Paypal cant do business with them.
How does thepiratebay use PayPal? No, they host ways to obtain copyrighted content and then load their website with ads - raking in the revenue.

Point is, money is being lost due to pirating. Passing this bill would have = more money in the industry which = bigger budgets which = bigger, better movies, music & games.

@Ferr3t I agree with u.. Piracy harms the art industry n other industries.. But the law they were trying 2 pass was indeed draconian..

It would have curbed freedom of the web.. And believe me if a movie is gud then ppl will watch it in theatre rather than download it.. Same goes for music.. and for softwares..

But in sites like Pirate bays u can find some real gud classic movies which are very hard to find.. e.g try Fritz Lang or Sergei Eisenstein..

So that's why it is a gud news for the freedom of the web...

Sure. But the thing is information sharing should not be restricted. This would simply result in extensive censorship. Which I am not for. Its not like these companies dont make money. Their stuff is overpriced anyway. So if some people get stuff for free it actually does not hurt that much. But passing a law that takes away the advantage of the internet and gives you fewer options is not something I am gonna stand for.

There should be piracy for people to enjoy stuff cheaply. Under this law, even lending a friend a DVD will be a crime. Which is (Want to be allies? Sometimes I like to pretend I am a princess riding a pony..).

In addition even the White House admits that the parts of the deal dealing with DNS is a threat to cybersecurity.
