Okay, why socialism held us back for 63 years? Good reason, our economy never grew because the silly Socialists (New Democrats) went anti business, which caused the population to stay at around 980 000 people, and we had the same amount during WWII, thankfully we kicked out the socialist wacks and replaced 'em with tories, now we're blossoming thru the recession.

china is still pretty socialistic, more communist... everything controlled by the government, it has aspects of free market, but that too is controlled by the government..
9 years of DOUBLE DIGIT GROWTH.
they reached industrialisation in 10 years that took USA 50+ years.
hmmm...
stupid socialist wacks.
and guess what, China's exponential growth resulted in more growth for many other countries around the world... INCLUDING YOURS.
greedy growth resulted in a thriving resource sector in Australia. mcdonalds toys made by 11 years olds in a factory for USA and everything now has the "Made in China" printed on it.

A truly marxist socialist society, in reality, has never existed. The utopian ideal of socialism is hard to argue against. It's funny to see the evangelical right wingers argue against the evils of socialism when, after all, Jesus was probably the original socialist rather than the son of a god, and heaven is a utopian socialist vision.

“Jesus was the first socialist, the first to seek a better life for mankind.”
Mikhael Gorbachev

But in reality, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
As Orwell put it, "All animals are equal...
...but some animals are more equal than others."
Just go read Animal Farm.

China is an oligarchy.
And in reality, so is the USA for that matter!
And anyone who thinks Obama is a socialist knows nothing whatsoever about socialism.

Dangerous statements you're making there, for a large part true, but dangerous. Watch it.

Religious discussions tend to end in bloodshed.
