and guess what, China's exponential growth resulted in more growth for many other countries around the world... INCLUDING YOURS.
greedy growth resulted in a thriving resource sector in Australia. mcdonalds toys made by 11 years olds in a factory for USA and everything now has the "Made in China" printed on it.

China's going more capitalist, and thats why they're blossoming, here where I live we had 63 years of APILE of socialist democracy (except for a period in the 80s), and that's a different story.

A truly marxist socialist society, in reality, has never existed. The utopian ideal of socialism is hard to argue against. It's funny to see the evangelical right wingers argue against the evils of socialism when, after all, Jesus was probably the original socialist rather than the son of a god, and heaven is a utopian socialist vision.
But in reality, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
As Orwell put it, "All animals are equal...

Just go read Animal Farm.

China is an oligarchy.
And in reality, so is the USA for that matter!
And anyone who thinks Obama is a socialist knows nothing whatsoever about socialism.

Dangerous statements you're making there, for a large part true, but dangerous. Watch it.

Religious discussions tend to end in bloodshed.

not when general kaja was around :( i miss him, kept good religious discussion...
and since facebook clamped down on all religious topics and discussions with more then a couple hundred members, ive been busting to put someone down through reality, logic, and proper morals.

of course china is going more capitalist, you cant call them communist no more, my uncle owns a large car factory there, 10 000 workers, he is a multi millionaire... that should happen in a commy society.

as i have said before, but not here,
socialism is not communism, communism is socialism.

EVERY factor of their industries is controlled by the government. this has increased growth exponentially as governments divert resources, provide incentives, give out subsidaries and basically make all industries explode in growth.

capitalism supports child labor, it supports slave labor even better. socialism is when the government steps in to make sure things dont go insane for the almighty dollar and wealth.

I don't think much of complete socialism. At the same time, I don't think much of complete capitalism. Extremes are never a good thing.

With too much government regulation of business, competition is removed and then the business will lack the means to grow and prosper. Just look at the DMV(for americans). It's owned and operated by the government and the people that work there aren't under any hurry and they can get away with having maybe 5 people try to take care of 50.

Complete Capitalism isn't good because without government regulation of businesses, the employers can abuse their workers and turn out a bad product. You only need to look at the Gilded Age of US History to see this when people could become sick and be fired, or lose a hand in a textile factory and then be laid off, etc. Again, they lose the need for a safe, high quality product. This can lead to a problem in a food product that could create a huge epidemic killing thousands. Also, Monopolies could form without government regulation, which would kill off competition, allowing the monopoly to go about business however it wanted to.

Any reason to be against complete capitalism can be taken from The Gilded Age in American History(1865-1900) and into the Progressive Era(1900-1920).

Answer me, kenny!

yes brent, good post...

anyone else noticed that we have already covered all this before?

deja vu in the new forum?

the thing is, in a financial crisis, many people will skip corners to earn that easy buck. companies can make easy at the expense of workers.. entire industries and all jobs associated are at risk in the crisis.

increased government involvement can direct markets to more protected forms so everyone doesnt catch on fire and burn.

as for kenny.
Quote:
Why? The minimum wage is accepted! If you don't like your job, and a company is paying you crap, you band together with workers and quit! Holy crap! You can do that Kenny? Yes. Yes you can. It's called freedom.

an extreme socialistic thing are unions. capitalism is against unions, they keep demanding more and give nothing in return. this also results in strikes... strikes are costly to all, including the public.
last i heard, more capitalism=less unions.
last i heard if the the people do that, the company goes SCREW YOU. no severance pay, im outsourcing to china. no freaking minimum wage there...

Quote:
f a business does a bad product, guess what? It's a bad business! Use common sense. If businesses just do whatever the hell they want, yes some will be bad, but the ones that end up bad won't go anywhere. This is VERY apparent.

funny cause US cars are extremely non fuel efficient and whenever the fuel prices rise people complain... not about the cars, but about the price of gas.

there are many many many bad products around right now, not all are the best they can be in order for maximum profit.

monopolies are attacked and not protected ie. Microsoft getting sued as they purposely discluded Apple software recognition or something.
capitalism is "well too bad, screw Apple jobs, ill pay you for half if you work for microsoft before your company tanks"

you say it like any engineer can team up and start making money, large companies often muscle away competitors through shifty price fixing.
